Knife blade grinding

Hollow, flat, sabre, scandi and convex grinds — held consistent across a production run. The grind defines how your blade cuts, sharpens and looks, so we treat it as engineering, not a finishing afterthought.

Overview

Knife blade grinding service

The grind is the single biggest driver of how a knife performs. We grind to a defined geometry — primary bevel angle, height, and edge thickness behind the edge — and hold it consistent SKU to SKU using jigs and CNC where tolerance matters, with skilled hand grinding for premium and Damascus lines. Tell us the cutting task and we'll recommend the grind; or send a spec and we'll match it.

Best-fit applications

Where this is used

  • Hollow grind — slicing, EDC and razor-keen kitchen edges
  • Flat / full-flat grind — chef and utility knives, low drag
  • Sabre & scandi grind — bushcraft and hard-use outdoor blades
  • Convex grind — chopping, axes and heavy outdoor knives
  • Compound / asymmetric grinds — Japanese single-bevel profiles

Process

How it runs in production.

01

Spec

We confirm grind type, bevel angle and edge thickness behind the edge for the cutting task.

02

Set up

Grinding jigs / CNC fixtures dialed to the spec; first article ground and measured.

03

Production

Run ground to the locked geometry; periodic checks keep bevels consistent.

04

Edge

Final edge apex set to target angle, then deburred and honed.

Quality. Bevel angle and edge thickness are checked against the first-article spec through the run, so the geometry your customer feels is the geometry you approved.

MOQ & lead time. Grinding is part of OEM/ODM production — MOQ from 300 units per SKU, lead time 35-50 days. Available on all steels we run.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked.

Yes — send a sample and we measure the bevel angle, height and edge thickness, then reproduce that geometry in production.

Typically 15-20° per side depending on the knife's job — lower for slicing and kitchen, higher for hard-use outdoor. We grind to your target.

Both. CNC and jig grinding for consistency on volume SKUs; skilled hand grinding for premium, Damascus and single-bevel work.
